Girls cricket is coming on in leaps and bounds and behind the scenes efforts by Cricket Australia, Cricket Victoria and the FTGDCA is working towards a very clear pathway program for girls to play cricket and get an opportunity to develop and advance to the National level. There are still many hurdles to face and a lot off work to be done but it will happen. As a club we are very proud of the girls who play with us and in particular their efforts at representative cricket.
Jessica Dunning and Kayla Beattie both achieved outer easter teams last season and this season have played in the VMCU girls carnival and most recently with the Outer East team once again. The VMCU carnival saw the girls go through to the Grand Final where they narrowly lost to Box Hill Reporter, however their carnival was outstanding and Jessica and Kayla both thoroughly enjoyed the experience, performed very well and made a lot of new friends who will also be friendly rivals in the coming years. We are also delighted to welcome Lucy Hilton to the club this week who played in the VMCU team but up until now hasn't had a club to play with. It is fair to say that the 3 girls will provide a formidable combination in the U/13 team and we congratulate them on their outstanding efforts this season and wish them all the best for the remainder of the season.
As the photo gallery shows, the girls enjoyed themselves immensely. The pic of the girls in the outer east outfits includes Tess Flintoff who plays with the Knox Gardens team. Tess in an amazing cricketer who last year played in the U/15 team so that she could get some competition. keep an eye on her progress and our girls progress in the coming seasons.
